This portrait painting was set in the office of Professor Hartley, Vice Chancellor of Cranfield University. In reality, only 2 of the 3 items on the wall behind Professor Hartley were actually on the wall, and not positioned as in the painting. Items were moved in the painting to provide a satisfactory composition; and the framed periodic table in the top right hand corner included as a reference to Professor Hartley's chemical engineering background.
